Landing Page
Don’t mind so much what this looks like - happy for you to do your thing! I do really like the idea of having dust on this page though that’s moving around and clears when you move the cursor but doesn’t totally go away, is just kinda moved out of the way and gathers in the corners.
-
Contributers Page
In the style of a typical contributors page from a magazine with an image and bio from each contributor. Folder with text and images is here. Still awaiting some.
Editorial inspo: think something like this could work well? Maybe when you hover the text pops up somewhere? I also really love this on the same website, the way you have to zoom to be able to see what the image is made from and then click for more info.
But also - a VERY cool idea for the page here.
Up to you though! Very happy for you to play with it as much as you like, the weirder and more interesting the better!!

Contents Page
I think like last Bog it would be cool to have both an easy-access way to find the content (so just the same sections as this page, ‘read’ and ‘look’) and also a more explorable way which kinda feels like you’re just meandering through and finding things by chance. I’ve always thought it would be cool to have like one word hyperlinked which then can lead you to another article but think it might be just a tiny bit too difficult to navigate but that’s the kinda avenue I’m thinking.
I quite like the way endnotes does it, where you navigate through the lines on the bottom right hand side. Makes sense cos it’s got ‘notes’ in the name and kinda looks like the lines on a notepad and I think it’s more fun to have something more complex and difficult but thought I’d mention it anyway (right now I’m just typing out a stream of consciousness lol).
I have also been thinking a lot about cartography and cell structures and how they look so similar. Maybe islands that look like cells could come into it somewhere. Again, I trust your mind and judgement.

Shop Page
So there will be some bits we’re selling through the mag. Some bits are from different people so I was thinking to have their contact details to buy, rather than directly selling through a portal on the website. So instead of buying through the website directly, they have to email the person who’s selling.
I’m thinking - instead of having a seperate ‘shopping’ section of the website, if we could just hyperlink images of the pieces being sold to a pop-up which has details on how to buy. Kind of like how Instagram do it now, if you get me?
-
Bog Bags
I’m making these simple little bags which I don’t want to sell for £, but rather ask the customer to send me something in return, like trading. There are two different sizes so will be fairly simple but want to have this as kinda separate to the shoppy shop bit as we’re not asking for £.
-
Dusters
Going to be selling the dusters that Clara and Albi are shooting.
-
Bog Earrings
Marlie’s bog earrings will be for sale. Would be cool to be able to link it directly to the page.
-
Paintings of Old Father Thames
Said to Sam we should sell his paintings as well. Again, think this would work super well just being linked up to the paintings on the site rather than a separate page.

Editor's Letter
This will be the last thing to go in as I’d like to write it when I know what the whole website looks like. Happy for it to be a simple page though.

Text and images and one video all in this folder ready to go. She has outlined the way that she’d like it to be displayed in the PDF in the folder but I’m not super into it. Maybe we can keep some aspects of it but make it look a bit nicer? Hate the font, think it looks boring etc. and could benefit from a bit of energy. Perhaps the images are moving in some kinda floaty, dusty carousel thing and the text pops up when you click/hover? Thoughts?
-
So she’s already outlined a suggestion for the layout but is chill having it however. She’s gonna get me some hyperlinks to add in on certain words and I was thinking that it would be nice if they didn’t just pop up in a new tab but were a new window kinda like the ones I showed you in Brandon (we were q drunk so no worries if you don’t remember hehe).
-
This is just images (in the folder called ‘selection’ in the ‘images’ folder and then a short intro). Was thinking it would be cool to have them in some weird image gallery inspired by this.
-
All images and the text in folder here. The only thing she specified is that she was thinking about the rubbings being side-by-side when they were laid out but she’s not super bothered about it. I love them so much, I wonder if we can make them feel like actual shapes on the page, like the text is weaving in and out of their lines and curves - is this a cool idea?
-
This is text and video. Ella’s text is being edited by her now but Reid’s work is good to go. In her email to me she specified the following: “Our initial idea was that one of the videos or the compilation of all four would be looping in the background with the images kind of randomly dotted around the text, but we are totally happy for you to run with whatever you think is best and use or not use whatever!”
So, another chill person who doesn’t really mind what we do. I think it would be nice to have the text over the video as the video is quite sparse and kinda just a mood if you get me. But another one where you do whatever you want!
-
Short story from Ethan. Just text at the mo but he might put in an illustration. Up to you how you wanna display this. Might be quite nice if it’s kinda simple.
-
Text and images all in here ready to go. Don’t have any bright ideas on what the layout could be (yet!) so just do you.
-
Joe DaviesvideosInstructions / Learning
So I don’t have any of the assets or the actual videos yet (he’s promised he’ll have everything by the end of the month) but he’s making these frames for the videos to go in:
The videos will go in the boxes. He’s also making 3D scans of the little objects in the videos so can do something fun with them as well. You can get a taste of the vids from the youtube links in the folder.

Aidan Duffyvideo (recommend embed)Clean Room
20 minute video by Aidan. Should be with us soon! Ideally fills the whole page & on autoplay. Click to pause but no visible controls.
-
Myself and Alessandro did a shoot with some skeletons. Not done a proper selection yet but will have it super duper soon.
-
An extract of Gabriella’s debut novel. She might want an illustration to go with it but I’m very happy just with the text. Again, happy to have this really simple.
-
Alessandro RaimondoimagesSelf Portraits
Photo series of Alessandro in his parents basement. Not sure what this looks like yet.
-
Claire Lemaigreimages
Three collages. I was thinking instead of having them all as one page, have them dotted throughout the website as unrelated links. Will have these soon I think so we can play around.
-
Albi Gaultieri and Clara BoulardimagesSexy Dusters Shoot
Shoot featuring lots of old dusters. Will also have this soon! I’m also planning to sell the dusters in a Bog webshop - more to come on this (will explain in another section).
-
Marlie MulimagesBog Earrings
Marlie has made and shot some earrings she’s made for Bog. Will also sell them through the webshop!
-
Ryan Skeltonvideo
Expecting a video from Ryan at some point.
-
Mati Haysimage and text?
Don’t know what she’s got planned, she’s totally mad and won’t tell me but it will probably be image and text. It will be good for sure.
-
Tenant of Culturewritten
She’s writing a text for me so shouldn’t be too hard to lay out and format etc.
-
Susu Larochesound, image, video
Sound, image and video. She might have some ideas for layout.
-
George Lynch and Joe Daviesvideo and writtenExquisite Corpo.s
Joe and George did a project with over 100 artists making a huge video using the exquisite corpse method. Wanna feature it on Bog alongside a text by George.
-
Ilana Blumbergimages
Ilana is doing some photos with alpaca hair that she’s been washing. No idea what this will look like tbh. (Will have this by 16/07)
-
Claire Barrowimages
Claire’s making some sculptures she’s gonna photograph in the style Dutch still lifes meets Disneyland haunted house meets wax museum from the 1980s. Looking forward to this.
-
Jay Springettaudio
Jay’s recording himself reading out a recipe to make “magical ink of the sun from the hygromanteia”. Cute bit of audio to use.
-
Sam Fentonimages
Sam does Indian miniature paintings and is doing a series about Father Thames. I can’t wait for this. Think we could use this structure as well as for Jerlyn’s.
-
Eilidhwritten
A history of toxic industrial dustiness. I was waiting to see what form most of the writing was coming in as so I could decide how to structure it. Will have this within days.
-
Eilidhwritten
I have a bunch of bits of text and stuff ready to populate the website but want to first of all see how everyone else’s work is sitting in it. Basically my idea has been to write some bits that feel more like a magazine editorially-ey vibe and use them to make it feel less like a weird online journal and give it more of a cheesy mag vibe.
-
Josh Cookwritten
Said he’s writing something about antique textiles in contemporary clothing but I know he hasn’t started yet so doubt we will have this one!
-
Milo Conroywritten
Says he’s writing an essay. Not sure if we’ll get this one either he’s not so reliable!

Little Idea: Random Content Generator
Maybe we could also have a button on the page which takes you to a random page on the website? And then have an option on each page to go to another randomly generated one? What do you reckon?
-
Easter Eggs
Wanted to insert some links to things from the web as little easter eggs throughout the website. These could be images, hyperlinked words, little symbols…. Don’t really mind, so if you have any ideas just go for it! The list of webpages is here. Also if you wanna add anything in that you think is cool, I’m happy for you to go for it! Don’t want you to feel like I’m dictating it too much :D

Music
We still have the music made for the Cuming Museum project (which is no longer happening now with COVID) and wanna use it somehow. I was thinking - there have been themes popping up re areas of dust people have been looking at and maybe we have themes for certain aspects of dust. I think this will become way clearer to me once I actually see everything in situ.
Thinking about the islands I mention in the above section. Maybe each island has a soundtrack. Just throwing ideas around now.
